This week, we’re exploring new Atlassian Intelligence super powers in Confluence, brand new Jira views you can quickly drop into your next page, and the chance to help with Confluence team make bulk Jira task creation even better.

Let's dive in!

More Atlassian Intelligence Smarts for Your Team

At Team '24 Europe, the Confluence team announced even more Atlassian Intelligence features to supercharge your teamwork. Whether you’re in the messy idea phase of a project, planning tasks in Jira from a Confluence page, or jumping back into a page after a break, Atlassian Intelligence is here to help your team work smarter and faster.

Elevating Your Confluence Whiteboard Experience with AI

Confluence whiteboards are already a fantastic tool for brainstorming and collaboration, and they’re about to get even better with the integration of Atlassian Intelligence. These AI enhancements are designed to take your brainstorming sessions to the next level, streamlining the creative process, automating manual tasks, and boosting productivity:

  • Generate Stickies (Coming Soon): Starting a brainstorming session can be tricky, but Atlassian Intelligence has your back. Begin with a single idea on a stickie, and AI will generate related stickies to keep the momentum going. It can also provide suggestions based on relevant information pulled from Confluence, Jira, and Jira Service Management (JSM).

  • Clustering Stickies (Coming Soon): Once your whiteboard is full of stickies, Atlassian Intelligence will automatically group similar ideas together, so you don’t have to manually sort them.

  • Summarize Whiteboards (Coming Soon): No more summarizing your team’s ideas at the end of a session! Atlassian Intelligence can quickly create a concise summary of the key points discussed on the whiteboard. You can even convert this into a Confluence page to get started on your project!

AI-Powered Jira Task Creation

The integration between Confluence and Jira has been redesigned with a modernized, user-friendly right-side panel. Atlassian Intelligence makes this process even more seamless by automating task creation directly from your Confluence page. No more switching between tabs—let AI do the work for you.

  • Single Task Creation: Highlight any text on your Confluence page, and AI will create a corresponding Jira task based on that selection.

  • Bulk Create (Coming Soon): Later this year, Atlassian Intelligence will be able to scan your entire Confluence page and automatically create multiple Jira tasks, saving you time and effort. (Love this for you!)

Stay on Top of Page Changes with AI

Keeping track of page updates and comments in Confluence can sometimes feel overwhelming, but with the help of Atlassian Intelligence, you can stay organized and on top of everything without breaking a sweat.

  • Summarize Page Changes: Wondering what’s changed since your last visit? Page catch-up provides a quick summary of all the updates made to a page, so you can catch up in no time.

  • Summarize Comments: Short on time? Let AI summarize both page-level and inline comments, even analyzing the sentiment behind them, so you can easily decide on your next steps.

When to Go Premium?

Friends, we know some of you don’t have Confluence Premium, so does that make this news irrelevant? Not at all! Atlassian is working to make their AI-powered features so exceptionally helpful, it’s like adding another member to your team. Depending on the work you do every day, all the things you can currently do in Atlassian Intelligence—plus these upcoming improvements—might just be enough to justify the cost.

So, give it some thought: Is Atlassian Intelligence in Confluence helpful enough to make the jump to Premium?

We’d seriously love to hear what you think. Respond to this email and let us know whether your team is using Atlassian Intelligence, and how you’re leveraging these tools to enhance productivity. 🌟

Add Jira Board and Backlog Views

Jira, Jira, Jira. Many of us plan our work in Jira but report our progress in Confluence. Well, the Confluence team has just improved this process with the ability to display your team’s backlog or board directly in Confluence using Smart Links. Simply grab the link to the Jira board or backlog view you want to share, paste it into Confluence, and the view is displayed. You can even resize it to fit perfectly.

Give Your Opinion on Bulk Jira Task Creation

As we mentioned above, the Confluence team is currently working to improve the experience of creating multiple Jira tasks at once (even if you’re not using Atlassian Intelligence). If this is something you do every day or would like to do in the future, head over to the Atlassian Community and share your feedback. The team wants to know what’s working for your team and what isn’t, so they can deliver the best experience.

Our Two Cents

Bringing Confluence and Jira Closer Together

We’ve been using Confluence and Jira for almost 15 years now, and one thing we’ve always wanted is more Jira in our Confluence and more Confluence in our Jira. Well, it seems like y’all are asking for the same, because the team at Atlassian is listening!

Whether through updated experiences, Smart Links, or AI, the Confluence team continues to add more ways to move from ideation in Confluence whiteboards, to planning in Jira, to working and reporting in Confluence. We’re really pleased to see features rolling out that ease the pain points we’ve all felt and continue the push toward having a single source of truth.
