Delivery Phase

As part of a great agile process, your documentation is ready for delivery along with your product. Publishing can be handled using one or more approaches, depending on the type of product you make.

However you deliver your documentation, there are a few key considerations:

  • Timing—Your documentation should be in user's hands when or before they receive the product. Ensure you can deliver content in step with your product.

  • Iteration—Sometimes documentation needs to be updated after initial publishing. Be sure your method of publishing allows for rapid iteration and republishing.

  • Theming—Make your documentation look as good as the product, if not better.

  • Archival—Users may benefit from older versions of your documentation. Consider how you'll give them access to old content.

This is when your team documents what users want and how you plan to deliver it within the product. Use this phase as an opportunity to begin your draft documentation.

Requirements Phase

With your draft in hand, you'll begin working with the team to write full documentation. This phase is interesting, because the team is simultaneously building and documenting the product.
