K15t Summer Get-Together 2020: The Beach Nearby
The Dilemma of 2020
In July, it was time for the annual company outing at K15t again. But as the whole world has experienced, 2020 is a special year that has changed many plans – including the plans for our company outing.
The usual weekend-long company outing is a staple of K15t's work culture. It's an opportunity for us all to get together, enjoy time away from the office and take part in some fun activities. This year's solution didn't scrimp on the fun we'd usually have, but it took place over one evening instead as the K15t summer get-together 2020.
The Beach Nearby
Finding a suitable location that meets the Corona regulations and at the same time reminds us of a summer trip wasn't easy. Of course, a beach would have been the perfect place to go, but it's a shame that Stuttgart isn't located near the sea at all. At least that's what we thought. After all, Stuttgart is full of surprises and actually does have a beach. So after all, we could go to the beach!
We left work early on Friday to head to Riverbeach on the river Neckar. We could hardly believe that we were still in a city like Stuttgart! We were surrounded by water, bright sand, umbrellas and sun loungers, and the weather was wonderful. Only the vineyards – which are located right next to the beach – were a reminder of the actual surroundings.
During the afternoon, we could constantly refresh ourselves with tasty ice cream and cool drinks in preparation for canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding on the Neckar.
The Riverbeach crew also organized a small beach olympics for us, where we could prove our agility, accuracy and speed. Through this competition, some team members showed their slightly more competitive sides!
That sounds like a lot of physical activity, but we made sure there was enough chance to kick back and relax, too. From his boat parked at the jetty, Captain Klaus offered us to join him for a tour across the river. And as the crowning glory of the day we could enjoy a delicious barbecue together in the evening. With a few more cool drinks and a lot of cheerful conversations, our K15t summer get-together drew to a close.
A Special Reunion
The conclusion of our get-together is very clear: we had a lot of fun and everyone was happy to see their colleagues again – especially after almost four months of working from home or remotely. Since some colleagues actually joined K15t during the lockdown, it was a great opportunity to meet and get to know these colleagues in real life.
We had a really special time together and are already excited about how we can incorporate events like this into our "new normal".
